Linear Integration

Linear is Koalr's issue tracking integration for teams that use Linear instead of Jira. Koalr reads issues, cycles, and team data to calculate cycle time, lead time, and velocity metrics. Issue-PR linking happens automatically via Linear's branch naming conventions.

What Koalr pulls from Linear

  • Issues with status history and transition timestamps
  • Teams and member assignments
  • Cycles (sprints) with start/end dates and scope
  • Projects and milestones
  • Issue priority, estimate, and label metadata
  • Issue-to-PR links via branch naming conventions

How Linear data feeds into Koalr

  • Cycle time measurement — time from issue start to merge
  • Lead time for changes — from issue creation to deployment
  • Team velocity tracking across cycles
  • Issue-PR linking for deployment context
  • Sprint scope creep and carryover detection

How to connect Linear

  1. 1

Go to Settings → Integrations in your Koalr dashboard.

  2. 2

Find Linear in the integrations list and click Connect.

  3. 3

Generate a read-only API token in Linear and paste it into Koalr. No OAuth flow required — the token is encrypted at rest.

  4. 4

Koalr begins syncing historical data immediately. Most integrations backfill 90 days of history on first connect.

Permissions and scopes requested

Koalr requests the minimum permissions required to read the data above. All access is read-only unless noted otherwise.

  • Read-only Personal API key or OAuth app token
  • Access to issues, teams, cycles, projects, and members
